Deborah Curtis of ASB Industries volunteered time for the week long Materials Camp held at the University of Akron. For 10 years now held in Akron, Ohio, this is one of many Material Camps across the United States for both High School Students and Teachers. ASB Industries is involved both supporting the Akron ASM Chapter and also the Thermal Spray Society. The goals of the camps is to teach and inspire future students to pursue further education and a career in material engineering.

And here is what one Teacher said about his week long experience: “I want you to know that this week by far was the best professional development that I have had. I want to do year two as well. I learned so much and really appreciate everything you have done to help each of us raise our level of teaching. I will try to get more teachers from our school and have already email the principal and Department Chair.” Thanks again, Kevin

What are Materials Camp?

ASM Teachers Camps are idea-generating workshops that show educators new ways to make teaching math and core science principles more exciting and accessible to students. Participation in Teachers Camps will help to earn graduate level credits.
